The field tests carried out on citrus and almond plantations confirm that AIs adjusts the application of the treatment tree by tree in real time.

Fede AIs system is a comprehensive agronomic solution for specialty crops based on image processing and Artificial Intelligence (AI). AIs, installed on the tractor, can “see” the state and vigour of the crops by capturing images with 3D cameras with a high level of detail and precise temporal resolution. The processing of these images offers valuable visual information about the size and state of the crops.

The technology has received support from the LIFE Programme of the European Union to develop the project with the acronym Life-AIs in a consortium formed by Fede – project leader – and Agerpix as technological suppliers and the large producers Castillo de Canena (olive grove) and Dominio Fournier D.O. Ribera de Duero (vineyard) from the Familia de Vino González Byass.

Reduction of plant protection products, pest detection and yield prediction

Life-AIs: See & Save adjusts the spraying application tree to tree to perform high-precision phytosanitary treatments. AIs captures and processes images in real time. The system sends the individualized nozzle opening and closing order to the Fede Smartomizer H3O to adjust the spraying to the crops dimensions.

The Smartomizer H3O connected to the AIs system performs a correct individualized opening and closing of the nozzles, maintaining a constant pressure with a homogeneous distribution and deposition of the treatment. The results of the field tests carried out in almond and citrus plantations confirm that the AIs system achieves savings in phytosanitary products of up to 40% with optimal levels of effectiveness in the control of pests and diseases.

Likewise, AIs is distinguished by being an open system that allows third parties to offer their agronomic services. The precise visual information and indicators are available so the providers can offer their pest and disease detection, yield prediction, fertilization and irrigation tasks, among others services, in an integrated way.
